Methodology: 

The philosophy of the Treatment and Learning Center is grounded in data-based scientific study of the best practices for children with autism. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the educational standard for children with autism.  According to the philosophy of ABA, all people respond to their environments in predictable ways. Changes in behavior can be effected by changes in the environment, and TLC children are provided with the skills necessary to successfully navigate the changes in their social world.  ABA insures that children can learn to engage in socially appropriate behavior and to reduce dangerous, socially inappropriate, or other challenging behavior through planned interactions with their environment.

Programming at TLC is customized for each individual learner and is completely data-driven. Students are taught using procedures that have been proven to be the most effective for them individually. All procedures are prodigiously positive, with the goal of insuring that social interactions and other socially appropriate behavior enjoyable for the student. As students learn a wider range of skills, (particularly communication skills which allow them the power of manipulating their en),  and as their abilities and options increase, they are far less likely to resort to challenging behavior and more likely to want to participate in society to their fullest capabilities. Our goal for each child is recover to the point that he or she is indistinguishable from neurotypical peers.

TLC believes that through appropriate treatment each child can make great strides in social, communicative, behavioral and academic domains and that attained skills will be maintained and generalized in other settings outside of the clinic.
